Happy St Patty's Day!

It's been a long time since I've posted any icons. Frankly, I haven't been in a very icon-y mood lately because I've been busy with school and work.

Anyway, since I'm extremely excited about my upcoming trip to France and Spain (which isn't until December, so I now feel incredibly ridiculous) I decided to create icons that depict landmarks/buildings/culture in Paris, Provence and Barcelona (which are exactly where I will be going on my trip). I used stock images found from various random sites (image searches on google).

Featured:
[01-15] Paris
[16-21] Provence (Arles and Aix-en-Provence)
[22-33] Barcelona

Last night my friend and I rode the Go Train into Toronto to see Phantom of the Opera at the Princess of Wales theatre. It was the first time that I'd experienced the play (she's seen the 2004 movie but I hadn't, we both had never seen it live). It was so much better than I thought it would be!

All I really have to say though is "Holy Crap!" I wish I could sing like some of the actors in this production because damnnnn they could freakin' sing! The guy who played the Phantom was especially INCREDIBLE! I had chills everytime he sang - it was absolutely amazing (I'm at a loss for words).

And the scene where the Phantom is taking Christine to his lair (riding the boat across the water)? I LOVED how they staged it, with the fog rolling off the stage and the candles. It was such a visually beautiful scene.

So now I'm pretty much slighty-obsessed like what usually happens to me after I see a new musical play or movie.

Hey, this is my first work rant! I do rant about a lot of things at work, but most often to my mom or my sister (who are sick and tired of hearing me, thus I'm "blogging" it here).

So tonight this lady comes up to my till with a bag of grapes, points to ONE SINGLE GRAPE that has brown on it and says: "I think this is a 'Fresh Or Free' item because this grape has gone bad." At first I almost burst out laughing thinking that this lady was joking, but she was serious. Yes, the store's policy is that items are "fresh or they're free" but there of course are a few acceptions to this rule. For example, if a single banana is bad in a bunch, then only the bad banana is replaced, not the entire bunch. In this situation, if only one grape is spoiled a person does not get a free bag of grapes. Grapes are generally delicate and easily brused anyway. I explained this to the lady. I even stated that if half of, or the entire bag, was bad then she'd be able to get a free one.

Then she flipped out on me and said that she hardly ever shops there anyway and that our policy was phony. I simply shrugged and asked her if she really wanted the bag. She huffed and said she did so I rang it through and she paid for it in a hurry, grabbed her receipt and said: "I'll never be shopping HERE again!" I just smiled and said: "Have a good evening."

This is the kind of thing that really irrates me. People should really start reading the fine print or something because we have this HUGE sign at customer service that outlines the entire policy, I've read it several times when I'm bored and I'm sure that the customers can see it when they go up to the desk.

On a postive note, I randomly recieved more hours this week. This makes me happy. =) And I get to go to see Phantom of the Opera in Toronto on Friday night!! Very excited for that.

Anyway, that's my rant for the evening. I must go study for a Lit test tomorrow on Chaucer. It's going to be harrrrrdddd. =( My teacher makes really hard tests! They're almost like mini exams or something.

I'm going to France and Spain in December!!!!!! I'll be spending New Years Eve in Paris!!! I'm so excited! jslafhjdfakkk!!!!

Now I have to start working my ass off to make enough money for my trip.

I need to find a second job or something for the summer since I only get one shift a week at my current job. It's usually slow in the winter though, so I'm hoping I get more shifts once spring rolls around. People in Ontario! Start buying your groceries at A&P please! =)

I'm too excited to read Chaucer right now! Weeee!

I FINALLY figured how to make custom layouts work. I used to be a master at CSS when I made websites, but now I look at CSS and tremble with fear. I feel great now.

I can't take all the credit though, the maker of this lovely layout is [info]refuted (THANKS!)

So what have I been up to this weekend? Not a whole lot. My boyfriend came down last night and we hung out at his place, went out for dinner, the usual. He's coming out again in two weeks so I have to think of something else we can do together. Instead of the usual dinner/movie thing. It's nice but it gets kind of repetitive after awhile. He agrees with me on that one.

Then I spent the whole morning helping my little sister who has now caught some flu bug. She's been so sick for the past few weeks, I feel terrible for the little thing. First she had a bronchial infection at the beginning of the month, and now she's sick again. Luckily for me, I have a strong immune system; my whole family was sick last weekend and I've been fine.

Other than that I've been doing some reading for my Literature class. Not much exciting news this time, sorry guys.
